We all know that prevention is better that cure so it is never too early for expert advice. We recommend that you bring your child for their first dental visit soon after the first teeth erupt, ideally at age 1. Timely dental attendance gives the opportunity for your dentist to deliver all the important preventive advice you need to optimise your child oral health. It also enables your child to get used to the surroundings of dental surgery from a young age to prepare them for future visits. It is important to bring your child for a check up before any dental problems arise. Studies have shown that if a child has had a toothache, he/she is more likely to be fearful of the dentist and cooperate poorly. Detecting decay in baby teeth early allows for more conservative dental treatment, and it is well know that children cope better with filling a tooth rather than extracting it.
