Dental Surgeon

Qualified in 1973 from Dublin Dental Hospital and worked in Kent in England for 12 years. He established a large multiple dental practice there, with a commercial Dental Laboratory of ten technicians associated to it before returning to Ireland to set up the Park Clinic Dental in 1985 and its sister practice Knocklyon Dental in 1988. He has years of experience in all aspects of dentistry,and as well as being proprietor of the Park Clinic Dental and Knocklyon Dental. He is also a Director of one of Irelands largest dental companies, Dental Medical Ireland Ltd.(DMI). |

Qualified from Dublin Dental Hospital in 1986 achieving 1st prize in Adult Dental Health. He worked in England for 13 years before returning to Ireland and has worked in the Park Clinic Dental since then. He enjoys doing Root Canal treatments as well as general dentistry with a special interest in Composite (White) fillings. |

Dr John O’Brien graduated as a dentist in 1978 from Cork Dental School and Hospital and after 20 years in general dental practice he completed a two year full-time postgraduate course in Orofacial Pain Management at UCLA, a world renowned program in this specialised field. During his time in Los Angeles he was invited to become an assistant clinical professor in the newly opened Orofacial Pain Facility at the University of Southern California (USC), also in Los Angeles. He subsequently was awarded the status of Diplomate of Orofacial Pain.
He returned to Dublin in 2002 and as well as well as dealing with the specialised area of non-dental facial pain management he does general dentistry at the Park Clinic

Orthodontist
Qualified from Dublin Dental School and Hospital in July 1998. He then went to work for 2 years in the Eastern Health Board. He completed his MFD examination in Dublin in May 2000. Later that year, he attended the Eastman Dental Institute where he completed his Masters in Orthodontics in 2002. A Membership of Orthodontics (MOrth) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2003 followed. He then worked for 2 years in the Regional Orthodontic Unit in St. James Hospital in Dublin before moving back to Dublin Dental Hospital where he is currently a consultant lecturing in Orthodontics. He also maintains a part time private practice with us since 2004.

Qualified as a Dental Surgeon from Dublin Dental Hospital, Trinity College with 1st class honours in 1998 and a prestiguous Trinity scholarship was awarded to him during his studies. He worked in hospital, community and private practice after graduation including 9 months in Australia. He continued with higher education and spent a further 3 years in Trinity College specialising in Orthodontics and finishing with a Masters qualification from Trinity and also a Masters awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2004. He has specialised in Orthodontics for the past 7 years and has a broad range of experience treating all age categories with a variety of modern orthodontic teshniques.

Qualified as a Dental Surgeon in Trinity College Dublin in 1992. After several years in general practice he returned to postgraduate training, spending 3 years in facial surgery in England. He commenced a Masters Degree in Oral Surgery based between The Dublin Dental Hospital and The Mater Hospital qualifing with a M.Dent. Ch.. In the same year he was awarded a Fellowship in Oral surgery by The Royal College of Surgeons in England.
He currently has a public appointment in St. James Hospital treating children and young adults under sedation. He attends the Park Clinic Dental on Wednesdays offering an on demand same day service under sedation.

Qualified as a Dental Surgeon with first class honours from Trinity College, Dublin in 2000. She was awarded the prize for the Best Overall Student by the Irish Dental Association and the prize for the Best Student in Child Dental Health by the Irish Dental Council.
Following a House Officer year in the Dublin Dental Hospital, she worked in private practice for a number of years in Dublin. She received her MFD from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2004.
In 2009, she completed a 3 year Doctorate degree in Paediatric Dentistry in the Dublin Dental Hospital, graduating with first class honours and receiving the Dean’s Prize for the final examinations.
She currently works in the Paediatric Department of the Dublin Dental Hospital and here at The Park Clinic Dental where she offers comprehensive dental care for children in a relaxed and child-friendly environment. |

Ms Sharon McGovern
Dental Hygienist

Sharon, our hygienist qualified in Guys Dental Hospital in London and worked in Harley Street before coming to Ireland. She joined the the Park Clinic Dental then and has worked here since. She specialises in Bleaching / Whitening of teeth in the clinic, as well as treating all patients who require regular dental hygiene treatment as well as diet control. |

Qualified as a Dental Nurse from Dublin Dental Hospital. Her main interests are in Crown and Bridge and Implants . She also deals with the day to day patient queries within the practice. She is fully trained in CPR.

Nuala O’Brien
Park Clinic Practice Manager
Nuala is the Practice Manager for the Park Clinic.She trained as a Dental Nurse in the Dublin Dental Hospital. After qualifying, she worked in a Specialist Dental practice for 2 years before returning to the Dental Hospital as a Senior Nurse, heading the Periodontal Department. She also worked in St James Hospital as part of a dental team treating Haemophiliacs.
She was appointed Practice Manager in 2001. She has been involved in all aspects of development within the practice, including recruitment, updating systems, Health & Safety and the multiple tasks involved in managing a busy medical and dental practice employing 30 people.
As well as being involved in a local group of Practice Managers, who meet regularly, she holds a diploma in Human Resource Management. |
